KEblog-Amber-Riley-Dancing-with-The-Stars---DWTS---Wins---Trophy---Ballroom-Dance-Competition

Can KE dancewear pick’em… or Can we pick’em!
We new from the start that Amber Riley was Kicking Ass on Dancing with The Stars.  We’ve seen enough ballroom competitions to know how to choose a winning gown and a winner and I guess America agreed.

Amber’s encore of her country western Freestyle dance, was an obvious choice to encore for the final show.  When it debuted, it was the first time in Dancing with The Stars history, that the popular dance called “Step”, better known in the African American colleges and community, was displayed in the choreography on the Dancing with The Stars dance floor;  A choreographed move that I, as an African American, new came from Amber and not her professional partner, Derek Hough.  The collaboration between the two in the country themed dance was fabulous and earned them a score of 10 – 10 – 10.  Just goes to show you what “fabulousness” can happen when we all work together.

And Today, Amber sits as the raining champ of the Fall 2013, Dancing with The Stars.  Amber’s winning speech spoke of a world without limitations:

“I want to let women of all sizes out there know — you can do whatever you put your mind to! It doesn’t matter what size you are, what color you are. You can do whatever, whatever, whatever you put your mind to!”

Much respect and accolades go out to Amber from KE dancewear.
Your future is so bright, it’s blinding.

Ballroom Dance answers by Cheryl Burke

What’s the hardest part about being a pro on DWTS?

“Great question!! Being a part of Dancing with the Stars has been an amazing opportunity but it can certainly be challenging! Being a professional dancer takes a lot of discipline and commitment. You have to practice every day whether you’re tired, your feet hurt or you just don’t feel like it. But the rewards are worth it. You have increased energy and you make new friends. I’m so lucky that I love what I do.” – http://strictlycheryl.com/

Direct from ABC 7 News:

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — ABC’s hit show “Dancing With The Stars” is going through some changes next season, according to one of its champions, Cheryl Burke. She dropped by ABC7 to give Cheryl Jennings an exclusive update.

“‘Dancing’ is now only once a week,” Burke said. “It’s Monday nights, so basically Monday, you’ll see what you get on Tuesday, so entertainment will move to Monday and an elimination will happen that same night.”

Burke in town for two days, teaching classes at her Mountain View studio and working with her favorite charities. She and her mother are launching a nationwide web service soon to link dance teachers and students.

“Maybe we can learn from what we have experienced as mom and daughter, when I was looking for a dance instructor for you,” Sherri Burke said.

You can meet Burke right now at her Mountain View studio for a chat session, classes and a cha-cha performance. “Dancing With The Stars” will air on Mondays in the fall on ABC7.

DressFeature-Purple-WPWith the high cost of professional dancesport trainers and competition fees, not to mention travel & hotel cost, ballroom dancers have a lot to handle before they even step out onto the competition floor.  KE dancewear is developing a ballroom dance dress rental site to help ballroom dancers offset the high costs of ballroom dance competitions.  The site should debut some time in June 2013.

However, if you’re in need of a ballroom dress rental today, we will open the vault for you to rent early.  Keep in mind that many of our dresses have never been worn yet.  And, since we’re in the development stages, we may be able to collaborate on a design with you and instead of you buying your ballroom dress for $3500, you can rent it for only a fraction of the cost, often 10-20%.  That’s a huge savings and a benefit often unheard of!  If you’d like to inquire about what we have available for rent,  contact:  info@KEdancewear.com

Costume "Debuts" Down the Stairs

So you’ve given great attention to rehearsing for months and months and you’re ready to perform.  And if you’ve dotted all your “i’s”, crossed all your “t’s” and remembered to check your list twice, then you’ve also been giving your costume the same thought and attention to create a masterpiece as you perform on the dance floor.   The relationship between your ballroom dance costumer and you is one of great importance because you’re being judged from the moment you gracefully walk out onto the dance floor throughout taking your humble bow and exit at the end.  Even the “simpleist” of costumes have taken great time and thought.  There’s a purpose and reason for the madness; I mean magic wands just don’t move themselves.

Today we’re sharing an interview of Randall Christensen, Emmy award winning costume designer regarding the process when costuming for Dancing with the Stars thanks to Devon Poer and Daryl Henderson from The Stylist Handbook.  Take note to what part of the show he never Ever misses!

Who is KE?

Hi, My name is Karol and I'm a ballroom dance enthusiasts and a professionally trained fashion designer working out of my DESIGN STUDIO in downtown Los Angeles. I'm writing this blog to help promote the sport of ballroom dancing and to have a place for all ballroom dance enthusiasts to share in the challenges of preparing for competitions.

I often write under the name Vivian as a tribute to my grandmother Hazel Vivian Easley who was a talented fashion illustrator and now my good luck charm. What I love most about ballroom dancing is that it expands along all age ranges ... from kids to seniors, the ballroom dance competition floor is open to everyone to participate.

With my love of fashion and dance combined, I'm developing a ballroom dance gown rental business to help dancers offset the expensive costs of participation. If you're in need of a one-of-a-kind BALLROOM DRESS for RENT, feel free to contact me and I'll see if I can help: karol@KEdancewear.com
